After watching Mikuru flail in horror for a couple of hours while she was bound and gagged, and misinterpreting her horrified flailing, Haruhi decided that she wanted a chance to be a helpless damsel in distress so she asked [forced] Kyon to give her a hand with the rope tying. Since she left no actual instructions before being gagged, Kyon and the rest of SOS Brigade thought she just wanted to be bound to help her think up new movie ideas and left her to her thoughts.
